scripts/fetch downloads official files, saves them under data/raw, and writes frontend/data/site.json. data/manifest.json records the URL, retrieval time, and SHA-256 for each file. This build was generated at 2026-10-19T04:18:52Z.
A chart is included only when every series on it has points. Derived series keep the formula in the series note. tests/test_data_integrity.py reads the saved files and fails if a chart value does not match a source row or that formula.
Background bands mark who was president. They are not an attribution of cause. Presidents do not solely control these metrics. Monthly points use the president in office on the first day of the month. Calendar year points use the president in office on July 1. Fiscal year points use the president in office on October 1, the first day of that fiscal year. A fiscal year runs through the following September 30 and can include two presidents.

FRED_API_KEY is not set, so no FRED series were requested. Gross domestic product on this site comes from BEA NIPA Tables 1.1.5 and 1.1.6 when that file downloads.
Violent crime and property crime charts are omitted. The FBI Crime Data Explorer estimated-crimes file is issued through a signed download, and the api.data.gov Crime Data API requires a key. Set DATA_GOV_API_KEY or FBI_API_KEY to fetch it on a later run. In 2021 the FBI completed the transition from the Summary Reporting System to the National Incident Based Reporting System (NIBRS). Many agencies did not submit a full year of NIBRS data in 2021. The FBI discusses that break on the Crime Data Explorer. This site does not fill the gap.
